Sharepoint

Introduction

The Physics department offers a SharePoint service, currently running on SharePoint 2007. Facilities that SharePoint offers include document collaboration and versioning, shared calendars, blogs, wikis and discussion boards. SharePoint sites can be open to the world, or restricted to Oxford- or Physics-only computers, or, more typically, secured by using Physics Accounts (usernames and passwords can be issued to external collaborators, but this does create extra complexity).

The University also offers a SharePoint service. At the time of writing (early 2011), this is restricted to "early adopters" only, but it will be offered more widely in due course. For more information, please visit www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/nexus/sharepoint/.
