Royal Society University Research Fellowships

These fellowships provide extended support for high-quality research workers to work in university departments, with the expectation of achieving permanent posts (in a UK university or industry) within 6 years.

Applications are invited from outstanding scientists under the age of 40, with between two and seven years of postdoctoral experience.  Applicants over 40 may be considered under very exceptional circumstances, but they should contact the Research Appointments department for advice before submitting an application.  Persons holding substantive posts in universities in the UK will not be considered.  Candidates must be either British citizens, or EU citizens, who are either currently employed in the UK or who have been resident in the UK for a continuous period of three years, other than for the sole purpose of receiving full-time education.

Fellowships are for five years in the first instance (possibly renewable in two instalments up to 10 years).
