I am a theoretical physicist studying complex many-particle quantum systems. My work lies on the boundary between mathematical physics and condensed matter. The main theme of my research is non-equilibrium quantum many-body dynamics.
After my undergraduate studies at the University of Pisa and at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, I obtained my PhD from the University of Oxford. I spent two years as a post-doctoral research fellow at SISSA in Trieste, Italy, and three years at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. I then came back to the UK: In October 2020 I joined the Condensed Matter Theory group in Oxford as a Royal Society University Research Fellow and in October 2021 I joined the faculty of the School of Physics and Astronomy in Nottingham.
The main theme of my research is non-equilibrium quantum many-body dynamics. I chose to work in this field because it poses some of the most interesting questions of modern theoretical physics: it explores new emergent dynamical phenomena as well as long-standing gaps in our fundamental understanding of Nature. Recently, however, my work also led me to consider aspects of many-body quantum chaos.
