I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in Particle Physics working at ETH Zürich with the CMS Collaboration at CERN. I mostly work on the ECAL sub-detector with a special focus on the safety system and detector control system. I am actively involved in the current detector operations, software maintenance and detector upgrade for the future HL-LHC machine. In addition to my research activity, I teach electronics laboratories at ETH Zürich for undergraduate students in physics. I also work with the CDF Collaboration at Fermilab and I worked with the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN from 2016 to 2021 during my DPhil at the university of Oxford. In ATLAS I worked on several muon performance studies, in the Higgs working group where I measured the Higgs boson total width the first Run-2 data collected in 2015-2016 and I was a member of the ATLAS Early Career Scientist Board, a special advisory group dedicated to assisting the ATLAS members in building an environment where full scientific potential of young scientists can be realised. At CDF I was involved in some tracking studies and I measured the D+-meson production cross-section at low pT with the full Run-2 dataset. In past I also worked at Caltech with the LIGO Collaboration where I studied new prototypes for the isolation system of the interferometric antennas to be used for gravitational waves detection.
Since 2017 I am the coordinator of the Oxford Particle Physics Summer Student Program for undergraduate and Master’s students, in partnership with Harvard and Heidelberg universities. In the past years I was also a lecturer of muon physics and statistics for high energy physics in this program.
I am also a prolific science communicator. Since 2016 I have been collaborating with three Italian high schools on multicultural projects for students.
