My main research interests are related to the theory of fusion plasmas, especially the plasma instabilities associated with tokamaks. I am also interested in fusion reactor design. I explore the properties of fine-scale micro-instabilities that drive turbulence tokamak plasmas, as well as more robust magnetohydrodynamic instabilities, especially those that drive explosive, filamentary plasma eruptions in tokamaks, called edge-localised modes, or ELMs.
