Abstract
Quantum computers are the focus of a $100B industry, yet neither those building machines nor those using them agree on which architectures and physical platforms will unlock commercial utility. Current quantum processors don't integrate with conventional compute to deliver benefits, while future fault-tolerant systems face scaling challenges that remain to be overcome. In this talk I’ll describe ORCA’s work to realise near-term advantage, via hybrid quantum-classical machine learning, and our research on atom-mediated photonic quantum logic as a route to highly scalable modular quantum computers in the longer term.
