Search for doubly charged Higgs bosons in like-sign dilepton final states at √s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
European Physical Journal C 72:12 (2012)
Abstract:
A search for doubly charged Higgs bosons decaying to pairs of electrons and/or muons is presented. The search is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb−1of pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Pairs of prompt, isolated, high-pT leptons with the same electric charge (e±e±, e±μ±, μ±μ±) are selected, and their invariant mass distribution is searched for a narrow resonance. No significant excess over Standard Model background expectations is observed, and limits are placed on the cross section times branching ratio for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons. The masses of doubly charged Higgs bosons are constrained depending on the branching ratio into these leptonic final states. Assuming pair production, coupling to left-handed fermions, and a branching ratio of 100% for each final state, masses below 409 GeV, 375 GeV, and 398 GeV are excluded for e±e±, e±μ±, and μ±μ±, respectively.Updated measurement of the strong phase in D0→K+π- decay using quantum correlations in e+e-→D0D̄0 at CLEO
Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology 86:11 (2012)
Abstract:
We analyze a sample of 3×106 quantum-correlated D0D̄0 pairs from 818pb-1 of e+e- collision data collected with the CLEO-c detector at Ecm=3.77GeV, to give an updated measurement of cos δ and a first determination of sin δ, where δ is the relative strong phase between doubly Cabibbo-suppressed D0→K+π- and Cabibbo-favored D ̄0→K+π- decay amplitudes. With no inputs from other experiments, we find cos δ=0.81-0.18-0.05+0.22+0.07, sin δ=-0.01±0.41±0.04, and |δ|=(10-53-0+28+13)°. By including external measurements of mixing parameters, we find alternative values of cos δ=1.15-0.17-0.08+0.19+0.00, sin δ=0.56-0.31-0.20+0.32+0.21, and δ=(18-17+11)°. Our results can be used to improve the world average uncertainty on the mixing parameter y by approximately 10%. © 2012 American Physical Society.A search for a doubly-charged Higgs boson in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV

Abstract:
A search for a doubly-charged Higgs boson in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4. 9 fb-1, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed using events with three or more isolated charged leptons of any flavor, giving sensitivity to the decays of pair-produced triplet components Φ++Φ--, and Φ++Φ- from associated production. No excess is observed compared to the background prediction, and upper limits at the 95 % confidence level are set on the Φ++ production cross section, under specific assumptions on its branching fractions. Lower bounds on the Φ++ mass are reported, providing significantly more stringent constraints than previously published limits. © 2012 CERN for the benefit of the CMS collaboration.First LOFAR observations of gamma-ray binaries
AIP Conference Proceedings 1505 (2012) 374-377
Abstract:
A few binary systems display High Energy (100 MeV-100 GeV) and/or Very High Energy (≳ 100 GeV) gamma-ray emission. These systems also display non-thermal radio emission+that can be resolved with long-baseline radio interferometers, revealing the presence of outflows. It is expected that at very low frequencies the synchrotron radio emission covers larger angular scales than has been reported up to now. Here we present preliminary results of the first deep radio observations of the gamma-ray binary LS I +61 303 with LOFAR, which is sensitive to extended structures on arcsecond to arcminute scales. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.Prototype pipeline for LSST wavefront sensing and reconstruction
