Suhas works at the intersection of physics and machine learning to develop next-generation photovoltaics. He is also broadly interested in all things semiconductor— OLEDs, lasers, sensing, transistors etc. During his PhD at Oxford Physics as a Rhodes Scholar, Suhas worked with Prof. Henry Snaith FRS to unravel the origin of energy losses in perovskite photovoltaics, earning a thesis commendation award for the ‘exceptional’ research.

In 2021, Suhas was awarded the Schmidt Science Fellow to support his research into accelerated materials discovery. Hosted by the Sargent Group (University of Toronto), Suhas uses machine learning and accelerated experiments to sift through the perovskite materials family, discovering materials for photovoltaics, display technologies, and energy-efficient lighting.

By acquiring bilingual proficiency in accelerated experiments and computation, Suhas hopes to find ways to develop next-generation materials for solving grand challenges like energy storage, clean electricity, and decarbonization. Suhas’s other passions include classical poetry, science outreach, and promoting open science.
