Abstract
Optical photons are an attractive candidate to mediate information transfer. The goal of creating scalable and deterministic operations between light and matter, including at the single photon level, has been long sought after. We discuss using thin-film lithium niobate towards this goal, taking advantage of its wafer-scale availability and nanoscale fabrication to enhance and tailor its electro- and nonlinear-optic properties.
