Abstract
In the first half of my seminar talk, I will introduce the scope and concept of a rapidly emerging research field within ultrafast science, strong-field nano-optics. Subsequently, I will describe how nano-optical near fields can induce non-adiabatic tunneling of photoelectrons from plasmonic nanostructures [1]. Related to strong-field interaction processes, I will describe the transient metallization of dielectrics and the optical chip that we constructed based on this phenomenon [2]. Finally, I will overview our results in the research of ultrafast hot electron dynamics [3].
