Abstract

In this talk, I’ll present the single atom trap that we built in the Atomic Quantum Optics group at ICFO and how we can use it to study the atomic dynamics inside the trap and extract characteristics of it (such as temperature) by means of simulations. I’ll also show our first results on the single atom-photon interaction where we used a technique called quantum jump spectroscopy to measure very precisely the ac-Stark shift on the atom’s position.
