Abstract
Extreme waves pose great risk to lives, infrastructure, and economic development along the numerous coastlines of The Bahamas, yet there presently is no integrated ocean observational system in place to monitor the ocean or perform forecasts. This talk will discuss the tools and techniques that can (and should) be employed to improve our ability to forecast extreme wave activity, while simultaneously providing a platform for a more comprehensive assessment of present ocean conditions for a wider array of applications within the blue economy.
