Abstract

Ever wondered how influential journals select content for publication and how peer review works? In this talk, I will discuss the editorial process of selective journals, which typically rely on professional editors, focusing in particular on Cell Press journals and introducing Newton, our new flagship physics journal. I will also provide tips on how to maximise the fit of your manuscript for influential journals and on how to deliver an appropriate reviewer report if you are invited to review a manuscript.

Cheryl obtained her PhD in Optics and Photonics from Imperial College London, where she studied solutions for polarimetric imaging through scattering media. She has also previously worked as a researcher in DSO National Laboratories, Singapore. Her prior research areas include novel imaging systems and image analysis methods. Driven by her staunch belief in the importance of quality scientific communication, Cheryl joined Cell Press in 2024 as an editor for Newton, and she is excited to help authors succeed in their publishing journey.
