Abstract
Continuum Machian Fractons
Fractons are phases of matter with cooperative excitations. The most famous models exist as lattice models or “higher” gauge theories. In this talk, I introduce Machian fractons: defined first in continuum classical mechanics, from locality and dipole conservation requirements. Machian fractons behave unusually, with attractor dynamics and clustering. In the quantum regime, Machian wavefunctions evolve to pile up and cluster.
