Abstract:

The Sunyaev Zeldovich effect is the scattering of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) photons off electrons in the intra-cluster medium. First, I will explain how we can use state-of-the-art measurements of the SZ effect (e.g., using CMB maps from  Planck, the Atacama Cosmology Telescope or the Simons Observatory, combined with galaxy surveys data from e.g., DES, KiDS, HSC, Rubin or DESI) to probe the pressure and density of baryons in the cosmos and to constrain cosmological parameters. Second, I will discuss recent results related to the thermal SZ power spectrum and the projected-field kinetic SZ power spectrum. This presentation is also an opportunity to advertise the upcoming release of class_sz, a versatile code that combines emulators and halo-model calculations for fast CMBxLSS analyses, complementary to CCL.
