Abstract

Following the generalised symmetry programme we will identify a one-form symmetry in the SM model that characterises the gauge group globally. This symmetry will be connected with the electric and magnetic spectrum and more traditional approaches to the problem (i.e. in terms of the centre of the group). Finally both the phenomenology and consequences for embeddings of the SM group will be discussed.
