Abstract

Many beyond the standard model theories predict the existence of long lived particles (LLPs), but the main experiments at the LHC are designed primarily to detect prompt particles. This talk will first give an overview of the standard approaches to LLP searches in these 'prompt' experiments. Then I will discuss the considerations surrounding building dedicated detectors. Finally I will introduce the proposed ANUBIS detector along with the prototype 'ProANUBIS' which is being placed in the ATLAS cavern.
