As Deputy Head of Administration and Finance, I work closely with our Head of Administration and Finance (HAF) to ensure the Department is able to deliver its core mission of research, teaching, public engagement and innovation. We do this by ensuring that our Professional and Technical Services are well equipped to support that mission. I take a particular interest in the Finance team, Grants team, Research Facilitation team and the Portfolio Project Managers, but I am happy to discuss the breadth of Professional Services in Physics and am a member of the People Committee.
Short bio: I studied Natural Sciences, specialising in Chemistry, at Cambridge, followed by a DPhil in Organic Chemistry at Oxford. After postdoctoral work in the then-vice Chancellor's research group (Andy Hamilton), in 2012 I moved to my first research support role in the Structural Genomics Consortium (part of the Nuffield Department of Medicine in the Medical Sciences Division here in Oxford). I joined Physics in summer 2014 in the Research Facilitation team, which I led 2018-2024. In October 2024 I moved to Earth Sciences for a secondment as Head of Administration and Finance. I returned to Physics as Deputy HAF in November 2025.
