Congratulations to Salah who successfully defended his DPhil this week. Salah's thesis, entitled "Local Power Spectra of the Earth's Atmosphere", concerns the theory underpinning the atmospheric kinetic energy spectrum. It’s extraordinary to think that we still don’t understand why this spectrum looks the way it does on smaller scales, despite measuring its properties way back in the 1980s. But, thanks to Salah, we’re a big step closer. Thanks to Tim Woollings and John Methven for acting as examiners. And congratulations again, Salah!
