Model Uncertainty MIP publication on assessment of uncertainty available online!
MUMIP aims to address various questions about uncertainty representation, including whether it may be rooted in fundamental properties of atmospheric simulations and atmospheric processes. Furthermore, it identifies methods to address whether uncertainty could be captured accurately and whether the description of uncertainty may be seen as complete with respect to variability contributions from specific processes. In a recently published first investigation of MUMIP datasets, we present methods which can arguably address these questions for
- deep-convection ("thunderstorm clouds") and moist processes (precipitation)
- a given cut-off length of spatial variation, "resolution".
Further works by the MUMIP community are currently under review and to be submitted soon.
