Salah Kouhen gave an invited talk at the OCCD Colloquium at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. The seminar introduced recent work using a coarse-graining approach to study how kinetic energy is distributed and transferred across scales in Earth's atmosphere.
The talk explained how this approach has produced the first consistent spatial maps of local mesoscale energy spectra and energy fluxes, providing new insight into one of the long-standing questions in atmospheric dynamics. The papers discussed can be found here and here.
