In a recently signed agreement between the two institutions, AWE has shown its commitment to providing significant ongoing support for the Oxford Centre for High Energy Density Science (OxCHEDS). The 5-year extension of the contract between AWE and OxCHEDS will provide the centre with funds for 7 DPhil researchers between now and 2030. The umbrella agreement also ensures the continuation of the OxCHEDS Annual Meeting, which has proved to be a highly valuable conference for Oxford faculty, students, and AWE colleagues alike.
Professor Justin Wark, Director of OxCHEDS commented “We greatly value our strong collaborations with AWE. OxCHEDS has proven to be highly successful and productive for over a decade due to our close working together and our common aims of understanding matter under extreme conditions. We are grateful to AWE for their faith in the work we are doing together, and this new agreement secures the centre for the foreseeable future.”
Colin Danson, AWE Distinguished Scientist and Co-Director of OxCHEDS said: “AWE greatly values the relationship with Oxford through OxCHEDS. This agreement ensures the strengthening of the ties between the two groups, and we are all looking forward to increased collaboration.”
