Dr Matt Wright

Many congratulations to Matthew Wright who successfully passed his DPhil viva last week (with minor revisions)!

Matt joined us in 2021 through the NERC DTP and was co-supervised by Tim Woollings and Antje Weisheimer. During his DPhil, he held a CASE partnership with AFRY, where he also completed a three-month internship. In addition, he was a Science Engagement Fellow at the Royal Meteorological Society, with a focus on the energy sector.

In his thesis "Investigating the role of aerosol forcing and decadal variability in seasonal climate prediction", Matt studied variations in hindcast skill over the 20th century, driven by natural variability and changes in aerosol forcing.

We are delighted that Matt is continuing with us as a postdoctoral researcher on the Strengthening Early Warning Systems for Anticipatory Action (SEWAA). Well done, Matt!
