Abstract
In my presentation, I will explore two key molecules observed in the Martian atmosphere: water and methane. These molecules stand at opposite ends of the spectrum in our understanding of Mars. Water, documented for over 60 years, is well-studied, with its seasonal cycles and related processes thoroughly understood. In contrast, methane remains an enigma. Despite being reported by multiple missions, its presence challenges our current understanding of Martian chemistry.
Both water and methane are invaluable in shaping our knowledge of Mars’ evolution and potential activity, each potentially telling a unique part of the planet's story.
