A hands-on workshop for children in Y7 and Y8 that explores topics in astrophysics through poetry and visual art

Astrophysics is about storytelling, stories that bring to life fascinating and unimaginable galaxies far away. We'll help you to explore the worlds beyond our own using alternative forms of science communication such as poetry and visual art. Who knew how creative science could be?

This collaboration between astrophysicist Dr Sebastian von Hausegger, and artist and educator Gaz Lawrence helps students to understand the universe in a whole new way.

In this workshop we'll show students how the latest astrophysics research can be used to inspire their creativity. With a specific focus on role models from the LGBT+ community, we'll give your students a better understanding of the exciting world beyond Newtonian physics.

Who is this event for?

This event is for children aged 11-13 years who are in Year 7 and Year 8. We encourage anyone is curious about space, poetry and art to apply! Students will participate without their parents.

This is pilot event and we will invite participants to give their feedback during the events.
