In my talk, I will discuss a tractable model describing Rydberg-blockade bosons on a square ladder with at most one excited atom per square. Along an integrable line of couplings, the model is closely related to the XXZ chain, and exhibits an interesting self-duality. Perturbing away from this line, we find Z2, Z3 and D4 ordered phases separated by second and first order quantum phase transitions. A non-invertible remnant of U(1) symmetry applies to our full three-parameter space of couplings, and its presence results in a larger critical region as well as two distinct Z3 ordered phases.

The talk is based on joint work with Paul Fendley: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2302.14081.pdf and https://arxiv.org/pdf/2304.08484.pdf
