Abstract

Ongoing large-scale galaxy surveys use clustering statistics to test competing cosmological models. Extracting robust constraints, however, requires a precise understanding of galaxy bias — the connection between the observed galaxy distribution and the underlying matter field. I will illustrate how galaxy bias impacts constraints on cosmic inflation and present a model for Hα-emitting galaxies targeted by surveys such as Euclid, Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. I will discuss the sensitivity of these predictions to assumptions about galaxy formation physics, in particular baryonic feedback.
