What is the event?

Each year, the Physics and Materials Science Departments collaborate on a full day of workshops and talks aimed at Y12 students. During this fun-filled yet instructive activity day, participants will be given the opportunity to carry out experiments in both departments and will learn more about these exciting subjects.

If you are a teacher with students studying Maths and Physics at A level (or equivalent) and are interested in Materials Science and Physics bring them along to this event at Oxford University to find out more!

More details can be found here.

Who is it for?

This event is open to high-achieving Year 12 students from UK schools who are studying Maths and Physics at A-level (or equivalent). This event is intended for students who enjoy science and who would like to find out more about Physics and Materials Science at university.

Do I need to book?

Places are limited so booking is essential. Since these events are very popular we ask you to limit the number of students from a single school to 6 on any one day. If you would like to bring more students, please contact us by emailing schools.liaison@materials.ox.ac.uk.

We request, where possible, that at least half of the students in your group identify as female. You may wish to consider working with another local school if this could be a challenge.

Priority will be given to students from schools with little or no history of applications to Oxford.

How do I book?

Teachers can register for the 2023 Year 12 Materials and Physics Day by completing the form linked on this page. Applications will close on Wednesday the 25th October 2023 and we will inform all those who applied whether they have a place on the event by Tuesday the 31st October.

As this event is during the school day, we request that registrations for students are completed by a teacher
