Electron bunch profile diagnostics in the few FS regime using coherent smith-purcell radiation
IPAC 2011 - 2nd International Particle Accelerator Conference (2011) 1970-1972
Abstract:
The rapid developments in the field of laser-driven particle acceleration hold the prospect of intense, highly relativistic electron bunches that are only a few fs long. The determination of the temporal profile of such bunches presents new challenges. The use of a radiative process such as Smith-Purcell radiation (SPR), is particularly promising in this respect. In this technique the beam is made to radiate a small amount of e/m radiation and the temporal profile is reconstructed from the measured spectral distribution of the radiation. We summarise the advantages of SPR and present the design parameters and preliminary results of the experiments at the FACET facility at SLAC. We also discuss a new approach to the problem of the recovery of the 'missing phase', which is essential for the accurate reconstruction of the temporal bunch profile. Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology 84:9 (2011)
Abstract:
We report the first reconstruction in hadron collisions of the suppressed decays B-→D(→K+π-)K- and B-→D(→K+π-)π-, sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa phase γ, using data from 7fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Tevatron collider. We reconstruct a signal for the B -→D(→K+π-)K- suppressed mode with a significance of 3.2 standard deviations, and measure the ratios of the suppressed to favored branching fractions R(K)=[22.0±8.6(stat) ±2.6(syst)]×10-3, R+(K)=[42.6±13. 7(stat)±2.8(syst)]×10-3, R-(K)=[3. 8±10.3(stat)±2.7(syst)]×10-3 as well as the direct CP-violating asymmetry A(K)=-0.82±0.44(stat)±0.09(syst) of this mode. Corresponding quantities for B-→D(→K +π-)π- decay are also reported. © 2011 American Physical Society.Top-quark mass measurement using events with missing transverse energy and jets at CDF
Physical Review Letters 107:23 (2011)
Abstract:
We present a measurement of the top-quark mass using a sample of tt̄ events in 5.7fb-1 of integrated luminosity from pp̄ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron with √s=1.96TeV and collected by the CDF II Detector. We select events having large missing transverse energy, and four, five, or six jets with at least one jet tagged as coming from a b quark, and reject events with identified charged leptons. This analysis considers events from the semileptonic tt̄ decay channel, including events that contain tau leptons. The measurement is based on a multidimensional template method. We fit the data to signal templates of varying top-quark masses and background templates, and measure a top-quark mass of Mtop=172.32±2. 4(stat)±1.0(syst)GeV/c2. © 2011 American Physical Society.Measurement of the transverse momentum distribution of Z/γ* bosons in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics 705:5 (2011) 415-434
Abstract:
A measurement of the Z/γ* transverse momentum (pTZ) distribution in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV is presented using Z/γ*→e+e- and Z/γ*→μ+μ- decays collected with the ATLAS detector in data sets with integrated luminosities of 35 pb-1 and 40 pb-1, respectively. The normalized differential cross sections are measured separately for electron and muon decay channels as well as for their combination up to pTZ of 350 GeV for invariant dilepton masses 66 GeVSearch for supersymmetry in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV in events with a single lepton, jets, and missing transverse momentum
