Search for pair production of scalar top quarks decaying to a tau lepton and a b quark in pp over collisions at sqrt s=1.96 TeV.
Phys Rev Lett 101:7 (2008) 071802
Abstract:
We search for pair production of supersymmetric top quarks (t over1), followed by R-parity violating decay t over1-->taub with a branching ratio beta, using 322 pb(-1) of pp over collisions at sqrt s=1.96 TeV collected by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab. Two candidate events pass our final selection criteria, consistent with the standard model expectation. We set upper limits on the cross section sigma(t over1t over1) x beta2 as a function of the top-squark mass m(t over1). Assuming beta=1, we set a 95% confidence level limit m(t over1)>153 GeV/c2. The limits are also applicable to the case of a third-generation scalar leptoquark (LQ3) decaying LQ3-->taub.Search for standard model Higgs boson production in association with a W boson at CDF
Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology 78:3 (2008)
Abstract:
We present a search for standard model Higgs boson production in association with a W boson in proton-antiproton collisions (pp̄→ W±H→ νbb̄) at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The search employs data collected with the CDF II detector which correspond to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1fb-1. We select events consistent with a signature of a single lepton (e±/μ±), missing transverse energy, and two jets. Jets corresponding to bottom quarks are identified with a secondary vertex tagging method and a neural network filter technique. The observed number of events and the dijet mass distributions are consistent with the standard model background expectations, and we set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio ranging from 3.9 to 1.3 pb for Higgs boson masses from 110 to 150GeV/c2, respectively. © 2008 The American Physical Society.Search for pair production of scalar top quarks decaying to a τ lepton and a b quark in pp̄ collisions at s=1.96TeV

Abstract:
The design, manufacture and characterization of lightweight carbon-fiber spherical converging mirrors for the RICH 1 Cherenkov detector of the LHCb experiment at CERN are described. The mirrors need to be lightweight to minimize the material for traversing particles and fluorocarbon-compatible to avoid degradation in the C4F10 gas radiator of RICH 1. Four large-sized carbon-fiber mirrors covering a total surface area of ∼ 2 m2 were installed in RICH 1 in July 2007. The mirrors have a radius of curvature of ∼ 2700 mm, a high reflectivity of ∼ 90 % in the 200-600 nm wavelength band, a low areal density of ∼ 5 kg / m2 equivalent to ∼ 1.2 % of a radiation length. Results of the radiation and fluorocarbon testing of the mirror prototypes are also reported. © 2008 Elsevier B.V.
