Search for single-top-quark production in pp̄ collisions at √s=1.8 TeV
Physical Review D Particles Fields Gravitation and Cosmology 65:9 A (2002) 911021-911026
Abstract:
We search for standard model single-top-quark production in the W-gluon fusion and W* channels using 106 pb-1 of data from pp̄ collisions at √s=1.8 TeV collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We set an upper limit at 95% confidence level (C.L.) on the combined W-gluon fusion and W* single-top cross section of 14 pb, roughly six times larger than the standard model prediction. Separate 95% C.L. upper limits in the W-gluon fusion and W* channels are also determined and are found to be 13 and 18 pb, respectively.Upsilon production and polarization in p p macro collisions at square root of s = 1.8 TeV.
Phys Rev Lett 88:16 (2002) 161802
Abstract:
We report on measurements of the Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S), and Upsilon(3S) differential cross sections (d(2)sigma/dp(T)dy)(/y/<0.4), as well as on the Upsilon(1S) polarization in p p macro collisions at square root of s = 1.8 TeV using a sample of 77+/-3 pb(-1) collected by the collider detector at Fermilab. The three resonances were reconstructed through the decay Upsilon-->mu(+)mu(-). The measured angular distribution of the muons in the Upsilon(1S) rest frame is consistent with unpolarized meson production.VERITAS: The Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System
Astroparticle Physics 17:2 (2002) 221-243
Abstract:
The Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS) represents an important step forward in the study of extreme astrophysical processes in the universe. It combines the power of the atmospheric Cherenkov imaging technique using a large optical reflector with the power of stereoscopic observatories using arrays of separated telescopes looking at the same shower. The seven identical telescopes in VERITAS, each of aperture 10 m, will be deployed in a filled hexagonal pattern of side 80 m; each telescope will have a camera consisting of 499 pixels with a field of view of 3.5°. VERITAS will substantially increase the catalog of very high energy (E > 100 GeV) γ-ray sources and greatly improve measurements of established sources. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Phys Rev Lett 88:15 (2002) 151802
Abstract:
We report a measurement of the diffractive structure function F(D)(jj) of the antiproton obtained from a study of dijet events produced in association with a leading antiproton in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 630 GeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The ratio of F(D)(jj) at sqrt[s] = 630 GeV to F(D)(jj) obtained from a similar measurement at sqrt[s] = 1800 GeV is compared with expectations from QCD factorization and other theoretical predictions. We also report a measurement of the xi ( x-Pomeron) and beta ( x of parton in Pomeron) dependence of F(D)(jj) at sqrt[s] = 1800 GeV.
