Girl conducting a science experiment

Girls explore science with Marie Curious

The next generation of scientists visited the Department on 31 March 2022 to get hands-on with science. Over 60 girls joined us for a busy day to explore a range of exciting topics including planets, magnetism, slime and particle accelerators.

The event aims to build confidence in girls with an interest in science and fuel a passion for continuing to pursue STEM subjects at a higher level. The workshops are run by passionate role-models from a variety of fields who are ready to answer questions about what it is like to study and work in science.

Marie Curious is also expanding thanks to a generous donation made by the Beecroft Inspire Programme and our next event will take place in a new venue, Kings High School, in Warwick on 7 May 2022.

The whole day was amazing and the girls absolutely loved it. They were buzzing all the way home and even said it was worth leaving at 6.30am for, which is high praise indeed!
