Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

  • About

Hi, I am Alessandra Ambrifi and I recently joined James Matthews's group as a PDRA. My research focuses on winds originating from black hole accretion discs. I am interested both in detecting these winds through spectroscopic observations and in modelling the spectral signatures they produce. Through my research, I aim to constrain the amount of mass these outflows remove from the disc and to understand the physical mechanisms responsible for launching them. I am also interested in research related to habitability.
