  • About

Hello! I am a 4th year PhD student in the group, primarily supervised by Claire Gwenlan.

I can get distracted and end up doing lots of different things, so here is a short summary:

  • I am a member of ATLAS, and the ATLASPDF group, where we work on providing PDF fits (and studies on the effects of PDF fits) using (mostly) ATLAS data. I also actively develop for xFitter to aid in our work with statistical correlations between various jet measurements.
  • I am an author of the NLO resolved photon PDF sets "PLgamma26", where we used a new method, fitting PDFs directly to particle level predictions from Sherpa, matched to the parton shower and including hadronisation and multi-parton interactions. This was also the first photon PDF fit to include a wide range of jet measurements, from HERA and LEP.
  • I work on an ATLAS analysis on jet substructure measurements, focusing on the Lund Jet Plane, and newly constructed variables based on the Earth Mover's Distance.
  • Techniques for hadronisation tuning (and tuning in general) for MC-generators. This is based on work funded by the LPCC for an MCNet short studentship at UCL, where we worked on analysis preservation by converting old HERA and LEP analyses from HZTool to Rivet. We are now studying the effect of this data on informing hadronisation tuning within Sherpa, as well as investigating new methods for tuning to a large data set, and a large number of parameters. We may explore further additions to the Professor method, or work on the history-matching setup previously used by Sherpa. The end goal is to provide better predictions for the EIC and FCC-ee.
  • I worked on the pseudorapidity calibration of jets for the ATLAS detector as my qualification task.
