I am the Physics Access Officer for the Outreach team.
Other things I do
I run an award-winning science education outreach enterprise in south London working with schools and with home education groups.
I also study part time at UCL in the Institute of Education. My particular interests are science capital, cultural influences on science curricula and the communication of knowledge.
What did I do before this?
As an undergraduate I studied physics here at Oxford and developed my interests in the history and philosophy of science and in science communication. I went on to teach secondary maths and physics before leaving the formal education sector to study for a second undergraduate degree in history and to work in informal education, improving access to and engagement with science education.
I returned to the department in January 2022 as a public engagement officer for the Zooniverse in Schools project following five years as part of the the learning team at the Science Museum in London; producing and delivering educational content for staff, visitors and schools.
