Study of electron pair production below the Z mass at the CERN pp collider

Abstract:
Results on the cross section for the production of electron pairs in pp collisions at √s = 630 GeV are presented. The measured value is σ = 405 ± 51 (syst.) ± 84 (syst.) pb, in the invariant mass interval 10 < m< 70 GeV. The results are compared to recent theoretical calculations which include O(αA search for scalar leptoquarks at the CERN pp collider

Abstract:
A search has been made for scalar leptoquark pair production with the upgraded UA2 detector at the CERN pp Collider at √s = 630 GeV, investigating decays of the leptoquark into a quark and either an electron or an electron neutrino. From an event sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 13 pb-1 a lower limit has been determined for the mass of first generation leptoquarks, yielding 67 GeV (95% CL) for a scalar leptoquark decaying with a 50% branching ratio into a quark and an electron. © 1992.A MEASUREMENT OF SINGLE AND DOUBLE PROMPT PHOTON PRODUCTION AT THE CERN P(BAR)P COLLIDER
