Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

What do I do?

Supervised by Martin Bureau and as part of the SIGNALS collaboration, I am using data from SITELLE, an integrated Fourier transform spectrograph, to look at spiral galaxies. In particular, we will be identifying planetary nebula in and around the galaxies, which we will use as tools to determine kinematics, stellar metallicity and distance.

I received my MSci in astrophysics at UCL, where I worked with Amelie Saintonge on a summer project related to clustering and the stellar-mass metallicity relation, and my Master's project on gas masses for quiescent galaxies.

I also enjoy doing outreach and have been involved in observatory tours and outreach activities at festivals and schools.
