Welcome Dr Shammi Akhter

We welcome Dr Shammi Akhter, who joined the Predictability of Weather and Climate group today. 

Shammi completed her PhD at the University of Reading, where she investigated how large-scale environmental conditions influence the genesis, intensity, and seasonal cycle of tropical cyclones in the North Indian Ocean in both the present and future climate, using observations, reanalysis datasets, and high-resolution climate models. Following a postdoc at Reading on extreme sea-level variability across Southeast Asia, she will be working with us on the HURACÁN project, studying the risk that storms of tropical origin may pose to Europe.
