Dr Hariom Jani has been awarded the Emerging Investigator Medal and Prize 2021 by the Institute of Physics Singapore. The award, announced in October, recognises his outstanding contributions to antiferromagnetic spintronics as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the National University of Singapore, and his continuous accomplishments in the field of quantum materials as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford.

‘It is our objective to identify and honour physicists who are currently doing remarkable physics research and making innovative physics education contributions to encourage younger members of our local physics community to attain greater success in future as they probe the marvellous yet unknown frontiers of the physical Universe,’ comments Professor Christian Kurtsiefer, President of the Institute of Physics Singapore.

The IPS Emerging Investigator Prize was introduced this year and aims to recognise the individual contributions of graduate students or research fellows with connections to Singapore that led to outstanding accomplishments in physics research and to encourage their career in physical sciences.
