About
I have been the administrator of Breakthrough Listen at UC Berkeley since 2019, and it has been an incredible journey to work alongside a growing team of researchers, students, staff, and collaborators to expand the search for intelligent life in the universe.
I graduated with a BA in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley. Some of my favorite topics were human evolution and paleontology as they study the procession of life in geologic time. Two years later I became program coordinator to an underrepresented minority program that helps scholars graduate from UCB and move onto graduate or professional school. This work was very close to my heart as I myself was a first-gen urm student. If you want to collaborate on any DEI work, please holler!
In 2015 a friend and I attended a SETI@Home lecture and our minds were blown – there were scientists looking for ETI just a few buildings away! After the lecture we went up to see the Breakthrough Listen lab – unbeknownst to me, I’d be working there four years later.
During my time at Breakthrough Listen, I have had the opportunity of working alongside a talented team across the world that makes up this initiative. Recently, I have been closely involved in the exciting transition of our group to its new headquarters at the University of Oxford. This move marks a significant milestone for us, showing our commitment to expanding our efforts and international collaboration. We hosted our first technosignature workshop in the UK at SKAO headquarters in November 2023. If you'd like to learn more, you can see the program and conference slides here.
If you have any questions or ideas to collaborate on, please get in touch. I look forward to meeting more of you at Oxford and abroad!
