Abstract:

A search for B0s-B̄0s oscillations is performed using a sample of 400 000 hadronic Z0 decays collected by the SLAG Large Detector experiment. The B0s candidates are reconstructed in the B0s→D-sX channel with D-s→Φπ-, K*0K-. The B0s production flavor is determined using the large forward-backward asymmetry of polarized Z0→bb̄ decays and charge information in the hemisphere opposite that of the B0s candidate. The decay flavor is tagged by the charge of the D ±s. From a sample of 361 candidates with an average B0s purity of 40%, we exclude the following values of the oscillation frequency: Δms<1.4 ps-1 and 2.4<Δms <5.3 ps-1 at the 95% confidence level. © 2002 The American Physical Society.

Abstract:

We have measured gluon splitting into bottom quarks, g → bb̄, in hadronic Z0 decays collected by SLD between 1996 and 1998. The analysis was performed by looking for secondary bottom production in 4-jet events of any primary flavor. 4-jet events were identified, and in each event a topological vertex-mass technique was applied to the two jets closest in angle in order to identify them as b or b̄ jets. The upgraded CCD-based vertex detector gives very high B-tagging efficiency, especially for B hadrons with the low energies typical of this process. We measured the rate of g → bb̄ production per hadronic event, gbb̄, to be (2.44 ± 0.59(stat.) ± 0.34(syst.)) × 10-3. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.

Abstract:

Direct measurements of the asymmetry parameters Ae, Aμ, and AT using leptonic Z decays were carried out based on the 3.8 X 105Zs collected during 1996-1998 by the SLAC Large Detector (SLD) experiment at the SLC. The results were combined with earlier leptonic asymmetry measurements and the more precise left-right asymmetry measurements using Z decays to hadrons.
