Squeezed triggering of superradiant beats

Abstract:

We study the superradiant decay of two groups of atoms having slightly different transition frequencies and interacting with a squeezed electromagnetic reservoir. The statistical properties of the onset of the decay process are modified with respect to those of usual superradiant beating because of the presence of squeezed field fluctuations. We show that this influences both the auto-correlation properties of the whole intensity emitted by the two groups and the cross correlations of the emission processes of the two species of atoms. In particular, it is shown that the intensity correlations between the two groups in the case of large detuning depend directly on the squeezing parameter. © 1991.
