Black Hole

Lensing of space time around a black hole. At Oxford we study black holes observationally and theoretically on all size and time scales - it is some of our core work.

Research

I am interested in and have worked on topics in "The Dark Universe" - dark matter and dark energy. My research has covered a range of topics in cosmology and galaxy evolution, using large galaxy surveys to understand the connection between galaxies and their dark matter halo.

I also have research interests in laboratory astrophysics experiments, which use high-powered lasers to create astrophysical plasmas on Earth e.g. millimetre sized plasmas with conditions similar to inside a star.

About Me

I did my DPhil in Astronomy, supervised by Professor Matt Jarvis, at Lincoln College, University of Oxford. I then was a postdoc and subsequently Hintze Research Fellow in the Department, working on a range of topics in astrophysics and cosmology, as well as projects in machine learning, nuclear fusion, laboratory astrophysics, science education and SETI. Besides my research, I have been involved in a wide variety of outreach and school research projects.
