Analyzing powers in 208Pb(p, t)206Pb transitions

Physics Letters B 47:3 (1973) 237-240

Authors:

JA MacDonald, NA Jelley, J Cerny

Abstract:

A 40 MeV polarized proton beam was used to induce (p, t) transitions to the lowest 0+, 2+, 4+ and 6+ states in 206Pb. The analyzing power of the L = 0 transition was well fit by zero-range DWBA, but only qualitative agreement was obtained for the L = 2, 4 and 6 transitions. © 1973.

Gamma-ray transitions from the lowest f = 2 states of 24Na and 28Al

Nuclear Physics, Section A 206:1 (1973) 207-216

Authors:

DFH Start, NA Jelley, J Burde, DA Hutcheon, WL Randolph, BY Underwood, RE Warner

Abstract:

The γ-ray decay modes of the lowest 0+, f = 2 states of 24Na and 28Al have been investigated with a Ge(Li) detector in the 22Ne(3He, p)24Na and 26Mg(3He, p)28Al reactions. Precise excitation energies of 5970.2 ± 0.9 keV and 5992.4 ± 0.4 keV were obtained for the 24Na and 28Al T = 2 states respectively. These energies are used to calculate the masses of the Tz = -1 and -2 members of each isobaric quintet and the branching ratios are compared with those of the analogous isovector M1 transitions in 24Mg and 28Si and also with shell model calculations. © 1973.

Lifetimes in 22Ne, 22Na, 30Si, 30P and 35Cl using the recoil-distance method

Nuclear Physics, Section A 201:3 (1973) 513-533

Authors:

N Anyas-Weiss, R Griffiths, NA Jelley, W Randolph, J Szücs, TK Alexander

Abstract:

Levels in 22Ne, 22Na, 30Si, 30P and 35Cl were excited in the following reactions: 19F(α, p) 22Ne, 19F(α, n)22Na, 27Al(α, p)30Si, 27Al(α, n)30P and 32S(α, p)35Cl. The recoil-distance method was used to measure lifetimes of excited states in the residual nuclei. The measured values are: 22Ne(1275) = 5.40±0.40 ps, 22Na(1984) = 2.40±0.25 ps, 30Si(3788) = 6.8±2.0 ps, 30P(709) = 54±5 ps and35Cl(3163) = 53±6 ps. These values are compared to previous measurements by the recoil-distance technique, as well as by different techniques, and are also compared to theoretical predictions. © 1973.
