  • About

My DPhil project, “Strong Coupling of a Single Atom to a Micromirror Optical Cavity for Distributed Quantum Networking”, aims to bring into fruition an interface that permits the faithful interconversion of information between neutral atoms and photons, which are our group’s choice of stationary and flying qubits. Specifically, we propose the use of optical microcavities with a novel formfactor, which can be shown to retain the many benefits of mainstream fibre-tip cavities but improve upon their mechanical stability and out-coupling efficiency.
