I am Director of the Oxford Quantum Institute (OQI) which brings together researchers from across departments and divisions to accelerate the development and application of quantum science and technology. My research covers the application of light to quantum information processing, from simulation and computing to sensors and networks.
I chair the National Quantum Computing Centre Strategic Advisory Board and I am also a member of the National Quantum Strategic Advisory Board (SAB), which advises the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Prior to this, I was Provost of Imperial College London and remain as Chair of Experimental Physics. I was previously Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Hooke Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Oxford.
