Search for heavy long-lived charged particles with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV
Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics 703:4 (2011) 428-446
Abstract:
A search for long-lived charged particles reaching the muon spectrometer is performed using a data sample of 37 pb-1 from pp collisions at √s=7 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2010. No excess is observed above the estimated background. Stable τ̃ sleptons are excluded at 95% CL up to a mass of 136 GeV, in GMSB models with N5=3, mmessenger=250 TeV, sign(μ)=1 and tanβ=5. Electroweak production of sleptons is excluded up to a mass of 110 GeV. Gluino R-hadrons in a generic interaction model are excluded up to masses of 530 GeV to 544 GeV depending on the fraction of R-hadrons produced as g̃-balls. © 2011 CERN.Search for light resonances decaying into pairs of muons as a signal of new physics
Journal of High Energy Physics 2011:7 (2011)
Abstract:
A search for groups of collimated muons is performed using a data sample collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb-1. The analysis searches for production of new low-mass states decaying into pairs of muons and is designed to achieve high sensitivity to a broad range of models predicting leptonic jet signatures. With no excess observed over the background expectation, upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction times acceptance are set, ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 pb at the 95% CL depending on event topology. In addition, the results are interpreted in several benchmark models in the context of supersymmetry with a new light dark sector exploring previously inaccessible parameter space.Search for neutral MSSM Higgs bosons decaying to τ+τ- pairs in proton-proton collisions at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics 705:3 (2011) 174-192
Abstract:
A search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying to pairs of τ leptons with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in 2010 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1. After signal selection, 276 events are observed in this data sample. The observed number of events is consistent with the total expected background of 269±36 events. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are derived for the production cross section of a generic Higgs boson φ as a function of the Higgs boson mass and for A/H/h production in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as a function of the parameters mA and tanβ. © 2011 CERN.Search for new physics with jets and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV
Journal of High Energy Physics 2011:8 (2011)
Abstract:
A search for new physics is presented based on an event signature of at least three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1 collected in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. No excess of events is observed above the expected standard model backgrounds, which are all estimated from the data. Exclusion limits are presented for the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. Cross section limits are also presented using simplified models with new particles decaying to an undetected particle and one or two jets.Search for resonances in the dijet mass spectrum from 7 TeV pp collisions at CMS
