Negative ion drift gas mixtures in GEM detector application to axion → γγ search
IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium Conference Record 2 (2003) 870-872
Abstract:
We report on preliminary tests of a 2×2 cm2 GEM detector in a negative ion drift chamber. Stability and gas gain results for several negative ion gas mixtures are reported. The micro-structured detectors work reliably in negative ion gas mixtures based on CS2 and achieve gains comparable with those obtained in conventional electron drift gases. An aging study of a MICROMEGAS with GEM preamplification
