Abstract:

The 8B flux from elastic scattering (ES) and charged current (CC) of electrons was recorded at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) between November 2, 1999 and January 15, 2001. Data were partitioned into two sets then analyzed. As a result, the first direct indication of a nonelectron flavor component in the solar neutrino flux was established.

Abstract:

The first neutrino observations from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory are presented from preliminary analyses. Based on energy, direction and location, the data in the region of interest appear to be dominated by 8B solar neutrinos, detected by the charged current reaction on deuterium and elastic scattering from electrons, with very little background. Measurements of radioactive backgrounds indicate that the measurement of all active neutrino types via the neutral current reaction on deuterium will be possible with small systematic uncertainties. Quantitative results for the fluxes observed with these reactions will be provided when further calibrations have been completed.

Abstract:

We present a measurement of the W boson mass using data collected with the CDF detector during the 1994–1995 collider run at the Fermilab Tevatron. A fit to the transverse mass spectrum of a sample of 30115 [Formula Presented] events recorded in an integrated luminosity of 84 [Formula Presented] gives a mass [Formula Presented] A fit to the transverse mass spectrum of a sample of 14740 [Formula Presented] events from 80 [Formula Presented] gives a mass [Formula Presented] The dominant contributions to the sys- tematic uncertainties are the uncertainties in the electron energy scale and the muon momentum scale, [Formula Presented] and [Formula Presented] respectively. The combined value for the electron and muon channel is [Formula Presented] When combined with previously published CDF measurements, we obtain [Formula Presented] © 2001 The American Physical Society.
