I am a first-year DPhil (PhD) student in Astrophysics and a Rhodes Scholar working with Professor Bence Kocsis. I am interested in researching the dynamics of binary black holes in dense stellar systems and their gravitational-wave signatures.
Before joining Oxford, I completed my undergraduate studies in Physics at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, my home country. I also completed a research fellowship with the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where I researched the remnants of neutron star mergers. In addition, I was a Cosmic Origins Fellow at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, researching the higher-order statistics of the gravitational-wave background produced by Population III.1 supermassive black hole mergers.
Beyond my research, I advocate for science education and the advancement of fundamental research, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities in space science in Saudi Arabia. I am the founder and director of the Falak Research Program, the country’s first space research mentorship initiative, and a National Geographic Young Explorer in the space exploration focus area.
